چکیده
Delayed diagnosis of congenital tuberculosis (TB) in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is a serious problem terms infection control. Here, we report our preemptive control activities implemented after miliary TB mother preterm twins (index twins, NB1 and NB2) NICU. In addition, reviewed previous case reports exposure NICU setting. Immediately diagnosing mother, index were isolated before their received anti-TB medication; contact investigations also conducted. Eventually, was diagnosed with at 29 days age, NB2 showed no definite evidence TB. Through investigation, 11 16 exposed infants isoniazid prophylaxis positive tuberculin skin test results obtained 3 months. One 31 healthcare workers new interferon-gamma release assay conversion. Moreover, much shorter contagious period compared to that (8 versus 17–102 days). This suggests high suspicion prompt measures can help prevent outbreaks reduce burden

Disseminated tuberculosis was diagnosed at the autopsy of a 65-day-old premature infant who died in a 52-bed neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Congenital transmission was confirmed by isolation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis ...

Background: Once an infant is hospitalized in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the entire family dynamics is disrupted due to stressors such as interruption in maternal-infant bonding, abandonment of other siblings and financial burdens. Combination of multiple stressors often ends in divorce or other devastating results. In this study, a novel survey questionnaire has been developed to...

Background: Prematurity could result in the long admission of the neonate to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and development of some complications for both mother and newborn. The early discharge programs make the neonatal transference to home much easier and are beneficial to both parents and newborns. However, there are limited studies investigating the real needs of the preterm neonat...
